Eden Medical Center Earns Leapfrog’s “A” Rating for Patient Safety
Posted on Oct 24, 2013
Congratulations to the staff of Eden Medical Center for earning an “A” in the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2013 Hospital Safety ScoreSM initiative. An “A” rating is a deserved recognition of the medical center’s efforts in promoting patient safety.
The Hospital Safety Score was created with the advice of a Blue Ribbon Expert Panel of foremost patient safety experts from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Stanford and other leading academic centers, and is the only peer-reviewed hospital grading system in the United States.
The Hospital Safety Score assigns letter grades to local hospitals based on safety in preventing errors, infections, injuries and medication mix-ups.
“Many in our organization worked hard to help us reach the milestones associated with this recognition,” said Debora Hendrickson, executive director of Professional Services. Those efforts have paid off.
A hospital may have the best surgeons and greatest technology in the world, but unless it is preventing infections, and eliminating medical and medication errors and injuries, it is not delivering on a very basic premise: ensuring the safety of patients.
The employer-driven hospital quality watchdog, The Leapfrog Group, released its updated Hospital Safety Scores on Wednesday, October 23.
